The most valuable writing program for html and other web-usable scripts is Note Tab. It comes in three forms. The first, Note Tab Light, is quite functional. For $20 you can obtain the Pro version and for $10.00 the standard. I have used all three and like them all. The standard has a neat program built into it so that if you have it activated (even if not on screen) anything you copy (using ^C or whatever) is automatically copied into a special folder. The pro has the most bells and whistles. In particular there is a complex system for setting up macros which I use in a very simplistic way.

I have found the FTP Commander (free version) a very good, simple ftp program (that is, file transfer protocol) for sending files up to the net and back down again. I do not know if the free version is still promoted (I do not see it on their web site), but I believe you can still get it from the url on the left. The commander does not have the facility to change the permissions at your web site, however. If you need this, you can use the also free ACE FTP Freeware from Visicom. I have used it but find the other easier for most purposes. Of course, both of these want you to get the professional versions, but I elect to stay with the free.

I have put in two quite useful and free color choice programs: HTMLColor and Color Set. They both are easily brought up on the screen. Color Set is the simpler and easier to use. If you go to their site, you will see that they have a variety of other color choice programs. (The latest edition of color set does not have the useful infinite gradations screen that some other programs have.) HTML Color gives you every possible combination of html links and usages, foreground, background, tables etc and makes it possible to go directly from the form on your screen with the code for your program. At the bottom of this screen you will note a page you can go to that I have developed for color choice that you might find useful.
